what oil to use,,,06 75hp merc

I`m just bought a boat to pull around up here in Wi.....it`s a 06 Triton TS17 with a 75 Merc. This is the newest boat I`ve ever had. I need to know what oil to use. The last owner gave me whats left of his oil he was useing. He used Opti max oil. Or canI use Mercury full syntethic oil...

Only use OPTI in it..........anything else and you're asking for trouble. It is spendy, but not too bad. Back off the throttle just a little and you will get 8 or 9 mph with that motor. I have a 90 opti and can fish all over Dale or KY all weekend on a take or so.

One other thing.....find yourself a good marina up there. One that deals in bulk oil and buy a bunch at a time. I can usually find it about 30% cheaper than per gallon when I buy it bulk..And sometimes when I buy 5 gallons at a time I get a little more off.

I`ve been watching Youtube on the boat and they claim you can run 160 ,ile on a tank in these 75`s But most lakes I`ll fish are 1000 acres or less so not much running be idleing more then anything..Thanks

160 might be stretching it. How big is the tank. I have 13 gallon and have made it from Sunset Marine on Dale to the Dam and the all the way up to wisdom and then back to Sunset and had about 1/2 a tank left.

I figured it was nearly 70 miles. I figured I reg about 8 or 9 miles a gallon. NOT BAD for a 2 stroke outboard.
