    Green and Barren conditions

Plan on fishing a little and break a motor in on either Green River lake or Barren, that is if I can get to the water. Can anyone tell me if the ramp at Lone Valley on Green or Port Oliver at Barren are open from ice and is the main body from there is deiced?

    Green River Lake

Every part of the lake that I saw was frozen solid last week. I pulled the boat to ramp 1 and saw an ambitious boater stuck in the middle of the lake surrounded by ice. No clue where he came from or how he got to the middle of the lake I couldn't see his boat path in the ice from the bank. He yelled to me "don't try it." Needless to say I turned around and went home.

With the rain and warmer temps this week it should thaw enough to fish. haven't been to green this week but cville city lake is thawing rapidly.

Barren is open and was muddy starting around the state park and heading ds. Big rain came through two nights ago and may have muddied the whoel thing up again though.

    Green

Im gonna head out saturday and run the boat and may fish a little. Id assume the main lake will be fine to run. Id say the fluctuating water would have gotten rid of most of the ice, if not the warmer temps and rain. Id look for it to be a mudhole with more rain moving in this afternoon. If i had to guess id say the water temps will be mid to upper 30s

Tuesday 2/18 the water temperature at Green was 37-38. There was a thin layer of ice that surrounded the back side of Holmes Bend Marina. From Corbin's Bottoms to White Oak the water was stained or heavily stained. There was no ice in main navigational areas but the shallow coves had ice in them. I was only on the water for 2 hours and did not fish much.

We had a very big rain Thursday night. Good thing was it was a warm rain so that should help the water temperature. Bad thing is the lake already had a lot of color so it will be very muddy and still to cold of a water temperature for fish to be active in my opinion. Cold and muddy is as about as tough as it gets in my opinion.

If all you want to do is get out and run your boat you will be fine. Fishing will not be a problem...catching will be LOL

Thanks for the input guys. I think I'll hit Green river Saturday to get use to the new boat, check for bugs and put some breakin hours on it. I know the waters going to be cold and muddy but you know how it is when your addicted to fishing, put us in a clear swimming pool on the deck of a boat with a rod laying there and we're going to try it for a minute. After that minute turns into a few hours with no bites, we all say that's what I figured but I had to try it to make sure.

If you don't mind would you report back the water temp and color. I might get out next week and give fishing a try.

    Green

Put in at ramp 1 and went down towards corbin. Water was 37-40 and some pockets still had a little ice in the back. Water is milk chocolate with around 6" of visibility. I fished about 45 minutes and never had a bite. Gonna have to warm and clear up a little before ill head back out

    Green Report

Spent some time on Green River Lake Saturday, went out of Lone Valley ramp. To the right muddy with some debris and to the left muddy with a little less debris. Visibility was less than six inches and water temp at surface ran 45/46 degrees, didn't drop a gauge to measure at depth. Some clearing and warming needed before it's worth fishing. Good news everything on the boat worked so it's just waiting on better conditions too.
