    Confused

What doe's sanctions against Iran nhave to do with the veterans bill? Can't congress just vote for apples, and another bill for oranges? Why mix them together, and attach something about sardines? Ican't understand the term transparency, the way congress uses it. I look at a veterans bill. with restrictions and benefits and that's all. Its clear, like a bucket of water, you can see what's in it. Here cpmes congress, adding a shovel of bull **** to it, and calling it transparent. Our past and present service men deserve better than that.

    I can't

I wish we had clean bills to be voted on. This is a game that both sides play. They add on junk to force the opposing party to vote on it in an attempt to make them look bad. They either vote yes on something that has a bunch of junk that they don't agree on, or vote against it and look like they are uncaring. They are losers either way.

The single easiest way to get there is to give the president a line item veto..........Democrats and republicans need to come together and pass that legislation....

    Simple.

But you're right. The idea of a clean bill is a lost idea.

Line item veto gives a president, any president entirely too much power.

How else do you get a clean bill...........The ASSES in the house and the senate don't give two rips......with a line item veto, if the president doesn't veto the silly ****, he or she can be held accountable. Right now NO ONE is.....

That or we create some rules in the house and senate to hold these folks accountable.

I believe most everybody would agree our legislation process needs tweaking but giving line item power to a president is kinda like empowering him as a kind of dictator... He should not have the power to bypass congress, he has enough of that already.

****, also agree with Geo today too Line item veto was passed years ago (under Clinton I believe). Was deemed unconstitutional very soon after it passed because it went against the balance of power or something. If our congress critters really wanted to do something like that, it would be easy enough to pass a similar bill and allow congress the ability to over ride each line item veto. But why do that when they can keep the status quo and keep screwing us....

    my opinion

The line item veto isn't needed if clean simple bills are brought up. hat way the whole bills passes or fails. But that would limit the powerof special interest interest groups.
