    Wax

I'm upset over hearing this news. I've been planning all winter for some white bass action, and if Bacon Creek is the only other way in.....that is a disaster as well.

In my opinion, the problem is two fold....
    1) As already pointed out the Corp isn't maintaining the channel. 2) When the Corp authorized the expansion of the Wax Marina, they didn't (obviously) have a contingency plan to keep the narrower channel free of debris during winter pool months.

I hope someone gets some feedback soon and the problem gets resolved before the run up the river starts.

    Got this E-mail from COE

Your email was forwarded to us by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife.

For the past several years, navigation upstream of the Wax Marina has been difficult due to silt and debris in the river channel. This is the result of sedimentation. The condition will continue as long as we are at or near winter pool, and will likely be an issue in the coming years as well. As spring approaches, and we begin to fill the lake to summer pool, conditions should improve. Until then, it will likely continue.

We might recommend attempting to launch a small boat at one of the smaller upstream ramps. You would likely have to back down onto the lakebed, which can be tricky. We do not have a status update on any of them. Folks have also been carrying small boats down to the water above the marina (from the fishing pier area).

    Good luck and be safe.

Last weekend the dock was stretched all the way across the river and sitting dry dock with no way to get around, the lake level was 2.2' over winter pool. The level today was 6' over winter but they are pulling over 2000 cfs out of the dam. I thought about putting in at Bacon creek but I think the lake has to be at least 10' over winter to put in a regular boat. We will be down there tomorrow and it would **** if we get around the marina in the morning and after dropping the lake all day be stuck when get back to the ramp. The whites usually don't start running until the water temp. get around 50. I will give a report when we get back. Thanks for the input and support on this issue.

I drove down yesterday evening to check on the camp and decided to ride over and check out the situation. It's worse than I thought that's for sure. Spent the afternoon making a few phone calls with not a lot of luck. We need to keep on fighting this.

One thing you must keep in mind concerning the COE and the lakes: The lakes are for FLOOD CONTROL. That is their only purpose. Fishing and boating are a by product of the mission of flood control. The COE doesn't and isn't supposed to concern themselves with recreational activities.

Same email everyone got today!! Pretty sad. They understand it's a problem. But don't want to fit it.
