Be very careful. Find someone you know is trustworthy and has experience. I had a terrible experience that included the police at a very drunk carpet installers house at 4:00 AM. The install of the carpet in my 1997 Tracker Pro Team 17, finally done by a reputable boat repair business, cost about $3,000.00!!! I expect you could find someone to do it for less but I was in a bind because the drunk had torn my boat apart and it was the first week in April. I needed some one quickly and went to the only place I was sure would do it right. It still took 3 weeks.
There was a guy on this sight named Onemorecast that did carpeting. He was near Louisville and people on this site used to recommend him. It is a tough job as the inside of the boat must be removed to do it right.
A rough estimate on my 20ft fiberglass boat was $1000. Im not sure what the differences are in prepping glass and aluminum, or if your boat has that many more contours, but id think you would be looking at roughly the same price. Contact Steve Curtsinger, I've done a bunch of research on it and his name keeps popping up with good references. Ill most likely have him do mine next winter. You can find his info on bassboatcentral.com on the kentucky boards and hes a member here
I re carpeted my old 2001 185xt tracker my self a few years back. Got the carpet and glue at Lowes for less than $150, probably around $200 now. Not sure on your model but mine had a console and rod lockers. To do the job the console had to come out as well as the seats, seat base, rod lockers, throttle/shifter, side panels, all the deck lids, top deck plywood and lower deck plywood. Decks and console screwed on and everything else riveted on, must be drilled out and re riveted. Every piece with carpet on it will have to be cleaned of the old carpet backing, some time and a good elbow. Must be done in a warm shop to allow aluminum to warm for the glue to cure properly. Each deck lid requires several wood strips and clamps to hold carpet raped around until cured, many clamps are needed or you will have to wait on each piece. The point is, it is a job to do it right and takes some time. I did my in about two weeks working on it part time, full time it can be done in a week. So it depends on the wages in your area but I would say $1000 would be a good bench mark.
You nailed it. Trackers are a pain in the ass! I always did them for around 850.00 but i was cheap...well worth the 1000.00 cost. I`ve retired to Stone Lake Wi so I`m not around to do the work anymore...but thanks guys for remembering me..I re carpeted my old 2001 185xt tracker my self a few years back.
