Those lakes get enormous pressure. I'm sure that some fishing there care not for limits. With what Crappiepappy stated about temps and surviving the summer is what the KDFW is booking on from what I have read in the past. They put the trout in those ponds so that the public will have another specie to fish for that most don't normally get to fish for or to eat. The lakes at the Game Farm in Frankfort gets the same pressure if not more and they do not have any problems. If you're looking for trophy fish, go to the reservoirs, rivers and streams that can support these fish. I really don't think your going to catch a trophy out of a Fins lake. Yes, I know that there is a fish or two that are in that classification in those lakes but they are few and far between. And my next statement is my opinion only. Those lakes of course is open to all. Usually from what I have observed it is senior citizens, parents with kids that want to introduce them to fishing in a safe and easy access environment, disabled, and somebody that doesn't have the ability to go to lakes and streams or have a boat etc. I think it is an absolutely marvelous project that KDFW and local communities share! The ideas of the Fins lakes is to promote fishing. Georgetown/Scott county has available to it numerous fishing areas open to the public. The parks that have Elkhorn creek passing thru at Great Crossings, Oser Landing, Cardome and below Robinson dam. There is also Eagle creek in northern Scott co around Sadieville. Most of the places you can launch a boat. I fish Elkhorn on a regular bases with a boat and there are plenty of nice sized fish and plenty of them. I can go on but I reckon I'm starting ramble. You seem like a passionate fisherman Chris. Teach and encourage others to enjoy the sport when you can.
