Anyone have a general fishing report for Nolin?
I will be down there this weekend. Hopefully fishing on Sunday. Will let you know what is going on when I get back. Maybe someone will post general water color or temp.
Water down at winter pool, temp high 40's to low 50's, color is good, fished Saturday and Sunday in tournaments, 6lbs won on Saturday 12lbs on Sunday catching a lot of small and slot size fish, larger ones are still deep haven't moved up yet, I fished from Briar Creek to Dog Creek.
Great report, thank you very much!!
Days Bass Pro Put a picture on their facebook page of Lee Johnson with 3 nice fish out of Nolin. A 7 and two over 6.
Heck yeah Canepole Debbie showed that pic on her phone before she posted it . We got 16 on Saturday but no real big ones , we were using cranks
Well fished Nolin on Friday and had a tournament on Sat. Friday was my first time on the lake. water was 19.5' below summer pool, warmest water I found was maybe 51. I fished channel banks and points. Caught several fish with a wiggle wart, jig, shaky head with three barely over 15". Saturday it turned cold and rainy. fished same pattern and between myself and my co-angler we caught probably 50+ fish. I have never seen so many 13-14" fish in my life, lake is loaded with them!!! any way we weighed in 3 keepers apiece and they weighed basically nothing....fish were skinny! one guy who I assume won it (didn't stick around long enough to see) weighed in over 18lbs. word is he was fishing up by the dam, and possibly using an A-Rig. his big fish went 6-11. thanks for the help you guys gave me. on a side note nolin seems to be a really good bass lake especially once the lake comes up and warms up, I'd go back!
friend of mine fished the BASS federation tournament sat won it with close to 19# had two over 5 one over 4 on alabama rig.
There are a ton of bass on nolin. and can pretty much catch them anywhere. Finding the big ones is the hard part. If you dont fish the lake a lot its kinda touch for a decent limit.
I caught a bass on Barren River Lake a couple of weeks ago that was 19 inches and only weighted about 3 lbs, (also skinny). I wonder if the extra cold winter attributes to this.Well fished Nolin on Friday and had a tournament on Sat. I dont fish Nolin a ton but it seems a lot of the fish there are crazy skinny. Of the tournaments ive fished we usually have to go through 75-100 fish to catch a limit. Last year with the water in the bushes we didnt catch as many but had better quality. Had a limit and pulled up on a spot and i caught 7 fish in 8 casts, best 5 went almost 17lbs and my partner never made a cast as he was trying to cull as fast as i was catchin em. The lake has some decent fish, just hard to get through all the 13-14"ers to find em
