No just need to use night crawlers when the creek is high and dingy not middy but dingy now the biggest smally i ever caught came from the forks of elkhorn right below the dam on soft craw im thinking cause we didnt weigh them but smallest was 2.5 maube and biggest was 4 i was fishing with one of the mollusk conservation guys thats right there on the creek and ive heard tales of bigger LM than that from there in elkhorn they are there they dont get fat cause of current and having to push through it there long n lean
Heck, I've *heard tales* of 7-pound smallmouth in Elkhorn. And scuba divers at (take your pick) Lock 4 on KY River, below the dam at Barkley, and above the dam at Lake Cumberland who saw catfish so big they swore they'd never dive again.
Ive seen a 6 and a half lber come out of lock 2 on the ky and lock 4 is in frankfort its not deep enough below the lock or dam ive swam acrossed it several time in summer even went noodling down there
