I think it would depend on what you call rough water. I have not fished out of the 175 but I have been in one of the 18' trackers like this one on KY Lake. It rides ok but it will not keep you dry if it gets rough. It sounds like Bass Pro is just trying to sell you a boat. Now that being said if it if a good deal on it then get it. The boat will fish good for its size.
