I know smoking weed can make you slow down both mentally and physically but IMO it doesn't impair your awareness as much as alcohol.

I think folks that want to hang on to the "war on drugs" with their uninformed opinions will always stay in that cloud of confusion. When people want to demonize something they attack it with false facts and misleading information.

So if a person kills another person in a head on collision while texting and is drunk as a skunk but smoked weed two days ago and they test his blood they will get a positive test for weed....but what caused the accident? Well i maintain the media would say "man high on pot kills driver in head on collision" it serves their agenda. It's just the way it is....
Designer weed today is not the weed smoked 20 years ago. There are some studies that say the designer stuff is 20 times stronger.....

I personally believe weed to be a gateway. Not to ALL drugs and not for ALL people, but it is. It can also be said that Alcohol is a gateway......

I don't know. If we don't want to regulate it then fine, but we should make it a DEATH penalty case for dealing or cooking meth.......

    I'm willing to compromise.

I agree weed exposes someone to other drugs. It did for me and I played around with it for years. I have friends who couldn't let go and still engage in the other drugs...but....the one drug that has them "hooked" is alcohol. A beer after work, beer if they go fishing, beer if there is a cookout, beer is there is a tailgate party, beer if people are over and on and on. The sad part is a ton of people drive after they have been drinking but get away with it.

I drink beer and take an occasional shot of something stronger so I'm not saying it's wrong..heck it's legal and that says it all but I can't get past the dangers of alcohol compared to weed while driving. I do not smoke weed because if I did I would be fired. We work around some high profile gubment projects and healthcare facilities that have drug tests.

Most of the weed I see is home grown. It smells great and looks pretty but most of the stuff people smoke isn't as potent as what they say on tv. Hell who could afford it? The stuff we called "downtown brown" is still popular because it's cheaper and does the job.

Meth is a killer that's for sure. Cooking it is dangerous, smoking it is dangerous and being around idiots who smoke it is dangerous. We had a guy here who was smoking it and I knew something was up from his actions before he started his self implosion. This guy would show up in the middle of summer with a beanie and a huge oversized jacket on, he would have scratches on his face and head and would be going a million miles an hour with the attention span of a fly. Well in a span of a week he didn't show up for work, our work truck that he decided he needed to move was found on the side of a road in town and once he finally answered his phone he said his girlfriend had stolen our work truck. This dude was a mess and when we finally got the truck back he looked like a methhead you see on tv....a total mess. Not long after that he was arrested again for breaking and entering and that was it for him. 3 time loser and spent some time in prison.

You know I have said it before...I have smoked weed and drink beer and using myself as the litmus test I see alcohol being 10 times more dangerous with driving or operating machinery. JMO....

I agree, the punishment should fit the crime. Meth kills, with not beneficial use.

I think pot users, if convicted, ought be required to attend memory improvement training. I had the phone number for a great course with 8 in-attendance type classes. But I can't remember where I put it.......

She was on the cheerleading squad and was so good at tumbling that the entire crowd would call her out. She was also an excellent fast pitch softball player. She was a pitcher and played all other positions except catcher. She pitched a game in which she was able to beat a team that hadn't lost in 2 yrs. Then she discovered pot. She quit cheerleading, something she had done since she was 5 yrs old. She quit softball, something had done since she was 5 yrs old. Her grades went down hill to the point that she is 24 yrs old and still hasn't graduated. We told her that if she didn't stop, she would try other drugs because pot wouldn't be enough. She said she would never do those other drugs. She told us how she knew exactly what was in Meth. Well after not seeing her for over a year and then hearing how she nearly got busted(the cops busted down her door twice)and her coming home high as a kite because she swallowed her drugs, we finally got her home. One of her pot smoking friends brought her home to us. She looked terrible. She hadn't been asleep in over a week. She was covered in pic marks from the meth. She was so skinny with dark circles under her eyes. She had done all drugs except for heroin(she says, but she is an addict and I don't believe a word she says). Her boyfriend got 4 yrs in prison. Her other boyfriend did a year and a half. Her last boyfriend was looking at 25 yrs, but narc'd and got out after 6 months. Every boyfriend she has had has done either prison or rehab or both. I was able to get her in a rehab program and after 6 months came out clean. What a nightmare. I know I've talked about this before, but it is a very emotional subject for me.
Very sorry to hear that. I'm glad you saved her before it was to late. I had a buddy in school who got addicted to pills. One night he decided to mix a high dosage of that pill and a good amount of alcohol to make a deadly cocktail and it ended up taking his life that night. He was only 20 years old. He started smoking pot in highschool and just wanted something more I guess.... Ill agree with what geofisher said about pot being a gateway drug, I couldn't agree more. 90% of the folks I've seen smoke pot got tired of it and wanted something stronger such as pills, heroin, coke or meth. All terrible things. There are few that I know that ONLY smoke pot but those guys and gals are almost to ignorant to have a convo with. I guess they've just smokes themselves dumb After a few years of smoking multiple times daily.

I'm sorry, but if you are a pothead or know someone who is, I pity you or them. Dope will never be legal in Ky and now the stoned versus drunk driving facts are coming out. The seven mph joke ain't gonna cut it anymore.
You really think the ones that aren't "subpar" in their profession are going to shout out from the mountaintops that they smoke weed?

They are responsible adults that are more than capable of making responsible decisions with regards to what they do in their private life. They feel no need to take post facebook pics of their "prized buds" or walk around the mall with pants hanging half off the arse.

You are so out of touch with reality on this. As for marijuana being legal in Kentucky, it will happen sooner rather than later. We will be slower about it than the rest of the country like we are on everything else, but it will happen. I expect this to go exactly like your last bold prediction.

Friends......lots and lots are either unemployed or extremely under employed.

    Family.......most are unemployed.

Yep, this is what happens when your only goal in life is to get stoned, and think about a better life. Personally, I passed up that **** and got to the better life.

And to be clear.......I'm not talking about the recreational user. The person who smokes a doobie on vacation, or smokes a doobie with long lost friends. I'm talking about the guy who smokes it every day or every other day. Much like the alcoholic that cannot function without a couple shots a day.

And lets not kid ourselves. There are a crap ton of folks that are "dependent" on mary jane. The simply cannot function without it.....
