Green River Lake

Thinking of fishing Green River Lake for the first time. It's about 1 1/2 hours away from where I live. So I was looking for suggestions, such as: which ramp to use? Any hazards to look out for (shallow areas, etc..)? And I wouldn't mind if you wanted to throw in some suggestions as far as lures either! By the way, I'll be bass fishing... I've heard there's good LM and SM in GRL? Thanks!

I'd recommend ramp (site) one or lone valley. Both are centrally located. State ramp is in the area too but it can be difficult to launch there and it takes forever to idle out past the no wake zone buoys. You do not need a day pass for lone valley and it is wind protected in three directions. As is the case with most reservoirs, there are numerous areas in the lake that could potentially take out your lower unit if you're not familiar with the terrain of the lake. Use a good lake map that shows the terrain along with an accurate depth finder and you should be fine. SM fishing is not as good as it has been in the past but still descent in the main lake areas. LM fishing is excellent this time of the year you should catch fish on just about anything. Jerkbaits, crankbaits and wacky worms are my personal favorites but lots of nice fish are caught on tubes, swimbaits, jigs and spinnerbaits too.
