Species of all sorts have been developing, moving, becoming extinct, etc. since the dawn of time with no help or prevention from humans for most of that. I think we get too bent out of shape preventing things from moving in and keeping things from going extinct. They go extinct for a reason....even if a large part of the reason is humans.

Heck...Europeans were an invasive species to North America.

    We are the enemy

Anyone who thinks we don't have an impact on our envirement, is asleep at the switch. Its progress, like it or not. Most of us share the same view as DJ, and I don't fault him his views. Mine to some extant are the same as his. I want to be comfortable, not hungry or thirsty just enjoy MY existence. If someone else has to do with out, so be it. That is pure human nature. Since time began few have owned most, it isn't going to change. All men are not created equal, never were. Its impossible to have more Indians than chiefs. Guess we just have deal with it, each in our own way.

That's exactly why I retired and say to heck w IT

Most people don't give a dam anyway so they are not going to change much and will continue to do what you say. We will continue to burn all the fossil fuel we can as long as we can and not much will stop that. Be it coal or firewood, oil or gas. As long as we can get to it we will continue to burn it for energy.

At least on most of the newer coal fired power plants they are required by law to install and maintain air pollution control equipment. That's helped in my area. The area is a lot cleaner now than it was back in the 1970's in some ways but not in all ways. Long range transport has to be addressed and that's a work in progress. Thankfully the USSC had sided with EPA on the enforcement by EPA on long range pollution transport from one state to the another.

I really don't see the USA or anyone really stopping the earth was warming up as the resistance is well funded and fierce. Big coal has plenty of money to spend in the fight to remain king of the fossil fuels. They go kicking and screaming to court fighting tooth and nail so that they can keep on pouring pollution into the air an water without regard to their fellow humans' health and LIVES. Only when the Federal Government puts the strong arm of the law on them do they finally comply with the CAA.

So in the main time as the earth heats up more and more and the Tiger Mosquitoes buzz around I'll just apply a little more Deet.

    How true!

Caine could not get along with his own brother. Even Adam listened to Eve and then fell out of grace with God that day he ate the forbidden fruit. He probably just got diarrhea.

Animal and plants have gone extinct long before mammals were here. And some life forms will probably still be here long after humans are gone.

But anyone who thinks that Global Warming is something made up to help the Green Movement is out of their mind. In fact they are putting the Horse before the cart. Global Warming is real and it's partly due to what man is doing. In a time frame that we understand only man will be able to reverse the damage that we have already done. While in the historic past there have been lots of different climates on this earth, not so many of them happened while man was in numbers like we have today. Not many Homo Sapiens were here during the so called many Ice Ages. And so far we have not found any human skeletons right next to the T rex skeletons. Not in the same layer of the earth anyways.

Things move slow in Washington, D.C. But eventually they will get it right and straighten out this mess. In the mean time I'd suggest moving to higher ground if you live in a low lying flood plain.
