Melting Antarctic Glaciers

How does an ICEBURG, floating in the water melt and displace more water?? Basic science disproves that completely.

You can try this little experiment yourself. Put an ice cube in a glass of water. MARK the waterline. Come back an hour later, when the ice cube is melted............ENOUGH SAID.

after you place the glass of water with the ice cube in it and mark the waterline, now lets call the glass of water the ocean. now lay a bag of ice next to the glass, { this can be the on land Glacier Ice } only have it placed above the glass and push a tube into the bag of ice with the other end in the glass. { or your ocean } now warm up the room and see if the melting bag of ice, { which would be the on land glacier ice } makes the water in the glass { or your ocean } rise above the waterline. a floating Iceberg may not displace more water, but an Ice Glacier above sea level that is melting and making it's way into the ocean, does indeed displace more water.

Moveon's post wasn't talking about an iceberg floating in the water, it was talking about warming temps melting the Glacier ice and making the ocean water level rise. I just assumed you were a Simpleton rightie and thought Moveon was talking about a floating iceberg melting, making the ocean rise. I was just trying to be helpful, making it extremely simple for you righties to see, Moveon was talking about melting Glacier ice, that is above sea level. melting and entering the ocean, making it rise. it's good to hear you say, you understand about water displacement. just back up and read your post where you replyed to Moveon's post and you should see where you had me confused.

It don't matter who's right or left. Man is changing HIS environment. He's moving into places where he never belonged. Building houses on flood plains, sea shores, diverting water to places it never was. No matter what we do as a species, we have a time clock,were going to die! Were finding new diseses we can't cure.We are changing crops that may not nourish us . As and if land mass shrinks,poulations also will change. I completely agree with that statement.........I just don't feel spending TRILLIONS and TRILLIONS of dollars on a made up problem like global warming is an effective use of tax money.

The earth warms and the earth cools.......we don't know enough about the cycles and process to KNOW if we are a contributor. To think otherwise is extremely ignorant on our part. Maybe one day we will know enough, but I doubt it.

No matter, lets tax the living **** out of people and spend multiple trillions of dollars on this because it is OBVIOUS that gubment spends our money extremely effectively.

You have to dig a little. " Ian Joughin, leader of the other research team, said that nothing can stop the collapse of the ice sheet, adding, "There's no stabilization mechanism." So instead of arbitrarily believing the leftist ******** from CNN, I went directly to the source Ian Joughin.......and the quote I put in came directly from him from the national geographic article linked in the LEFTIST CNN reporters ******** report.

Yea, in 30 years of tripping up there, I've never had 20 inches of ice on interior lakes on Memorial Day. Isn't global warming great..........

The original article that started this whole my **** is bigger than your **** argument was about a very specific area that is having a collapse....that area, is posted in my response. I'm not going to post it again. LOOK the **** up if you want to know about it.

The area where the collapse occurred has some interesting geography. Again.......go READ the freakin stuff for yourself. I'm not going to rehash it here. Warm water intrusion occurred as has occurred tens of thousands of times through the history of our earth. That caused a piece.....a very small piece of a glacier to collapse, and melt.

Holy HELL.......we're all doomed, right. Well, not quite. The way and method that collapse occurred can only happen in a very limited amount of the glaciers there.....less than 1% of the total mass. Yep. that is going to flood the world. You call me out and tell me I"m not a scientist, but I will tell you this.....it is the IGNORANCE of scientists like yourself that continue the perpetuation of a myth......Sad.

If you understood then you Purposely misdirected everyone in your first post that I responded too.

What you failed to realize is that the ice is slipping into the ocean but it started higher up on land before it went into the ocean. Snow that falls into the water melts unless the water's covered with ice. Ice tend to float up on the surface. remember?

And the glaciers that are melting are NOT small by any means. Some are as huge as many of the larger "STATE" in the USA. These are huge Sheets of Ice.

I'm pretty sure that I read about another huge piece of ice that melted and fell of the edge of the continent up in North America somewhere off the East Coast of North America. That huge piece of ice is floating up in the North Atlantic and was said to be a traffic hazard for ships in that area.

To deny that the glaciers all over the world are melting more than solidifying is just crazy talk by some people who can't see the truth if it were put right in front of their face.

Again I see that no one cares about the melting ice or the slow rising ocean as it's not going to have an immediate effect on them or me. And I pretty sure that I don't need anymore formal education at my age. Although I could go back to collect and take some fun classes.

Did you or did you not explain an experiment on melting ice cube in a glass of water? It sounded to me like you were trying to disprove the Global Warming Theory and the rising ocean levels with that silly experiment. So I simply called you out on that and explained to you why the experiment was not appropriate. I then explained why the Highly Educated Researchers and other Scientist are all saying that the melting Glaciers and ice are causing the Ocean levels to rise Slowly.

Note Here: No one is saying that the sky is falling. Your lame attempt to try to say that I said anything like that is absurd. I'm not sure why you do things like that. I guess you can answer that question for yourself.
