Etc. Etc. Bad idea on a lake that small ! The largest bass in a lake produce the most eggs. After he did this for about 2 years and me telling him what i stated above he was crying the blues about not being able to catch the quality of bass he had in the past. All i said to him was..........i told ya ! Keep some bass to eat if you want to but nothing over 3 lbs..thats my 10 cents. Later jc. Oh by the way when i warned him about it he said {i pay for my fishing lic. And im going to get my moneys worth}
    Hahaha...Yep that's true and i don't really have a problem with it because having a fishing license makes one legal to fish within the rules of the lake and or state. What it doesn't do is give people common sense, a sense of courtesy to others or the right to be an A-hole. They usually have those wonderful traits from the parents!

    I used to fish Jacobson a lot back a few years ago. This was before they built the dike in the back that separated the park into two lakes. I loved it when they had the free fishing day event. They would stock the lake with Bass and catfish and they were roped off to stay in the back end of the lake. It was fun to go the next day or two after the masses left and I could wear those bass out walking the bank. Once they took the net down to let the fish scatter into the lake we would catch nice ones from our Jon Boat on the Golf course side of the lake.

    The folks waiting to fish at the blast of the horn on the first day could limit out within minutes on catfish and the sad thing is...the first horn was so kids only can fish but man the so called adults couldn't follow that simple rule. I watched many adults cast and catch fish and have a kid sitting nearby so they could claim it their fish. Stringers were full and heavy with Bass and Catfish and that kind of stuff pisses me off. One year they had an official (game warden I believe) there and I talked with him and of course he was gonna give warnings and just have a presence he really wasn't there to bust anyone on breaking the rules.

    If they policed it it would be an expensive venture for the city so I guess its just an event that will run its course. I don't fish over there anymore so I'm not sure if they have it or not anymore.

    The only reason I've fished it as much is I had surgery on my knee and can't get the boat out for a couple more months. I feel that if they are spending money to stock it 6 to 8 times a year the cost of a warden at least showing up every now and again shouldn't be nothing.

    I agree but don't really know the figures. I would love to see one or even a Lexington Police Officer at these events that promote kids fishing since they are being used by adults to stock their freezer. The rule and lawbreaker will show up at every event, I understand that's just how it is but a blatant "who cares" attitude is wrong.

    If someone wants to keep a legal fish it's up to them. I may not like it but I understand. I have a 9 pound largemouth mounted from 1993 so I have done it.

    Anyone can keep what they want thats why they buy a license it is just immoral to keep a 6lb basz full of eggs in my OPINION. The guy who caught it was proud as a peacock and I can't blame him it was a nice fish. I caught 1 today guarding fry about 15 inches and chucked it back. My problem out there was guys stacking fish over the limit. I'm sure that every licensed fisherman or woman pays for the FINS program in some way. That is what gets me. There was a guy throwing a cast net today out there looking for shad and bluegills to fish with. Does me no good to call last time I did warden never showed it was a sheriff's deputy and it took him over an hour.

    It may be considered to not be a good policy to keep a egg laden Bass ... if we're talking about a lake or some body of water that's considered a good fishery ... but, Jacobson is no mecca for any species of fish, nor for any numbers of large fish. That being the case, I see no problem with taking ANY legal fish from there.

    I do, however, see a problem with taking more than the established limit ... regardless of species. And I can't tell you how many times I've been there & seen that happen. I've even had people BRAG about it, to me. So much so, and so often, that I don't even bother to go there, anymore ... even though it's <5mins away.
