    Herrington baitfish

    What did I get no way was this a shad around 4 inches long large scales for a fish this size downturned mouth silver in color died in a very short time once hooked got several with a cast net never seen this kind before

    Could have been a Bigmouth Buffalo ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bigmouth_buffalo ) or possibly a Freshwater Drum ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freshwater_drum ) ... but, without a picture it's hard to say.

    Ive been castnetting for a long time neither one of those were it, cant find any pics online, I like to think I know my bait but I never seen this before

    Did some one unintentionally throw silver carp in there.... they look like shad there was a test on kdfwr site and you cant tell the difference unless ur eyes are trained

    Yup probably a good possibility that's what he's caught. Wouldn't surprise me a bit

    There is a new Kentucky regulation making is illegal to transfer certain baitfish from one body of water to another to prevent the spread of Asian Carp.

    This is to prevent the Asian carp out of lakes where they would not be able to swim into and get there by themselves.

    Right i seen that but the fact remains whos there to check every boat and baitfish you have in your tank all it takes is a couple dozen to ruin everything if not fewer than that it wont take long befor anyone on a boat is gonna need to wear a helmet and a neckbrace to protect themselfs from those things
