Thats what the DNR said about the Pacu and it would probably hold true but they don't take into account the things like power plants that dumps warm water back into the lake or river and creates a warm water place for the fish to live out its winter.
I was reading once about a lake here in the USA that had piranha in it and thay were living trough the winter . They prove this by catching them in the winter months were the water was a lot warmer then the rest of the lake.
