Agree that is an excellent explanation for how it used to be.

More recently radical Islam wants more than Israel dead, they want ALL non Muslims dead, and sharia law imposed world wide.

The culture in the middle east is so infused with hate and violence they will never stop killing no matter what. Millions are driven from childhood on by their religious leaders to kill EVERYONE who does not share their religious beliefs.

We're dealing with millions who believe a bunch a virgins in the 7th heaven are waiting for men who kill themselves while slaughtering innocent people. How can that be dealt with? Kill every damned one of them is the only surefire way, and nobody has the stomach for that.

Read "The Haj" by Leon Uris to better understand the Arab culture and learn a lot about the events around modern Israel's creation. Old book with fictional characters, but very accurate.

A decent summary, but a little over simplified. Neglects to mention that Israel was set up by the west after WWII with no input from those who were already living in the area. That is the root of the problem.

I did notice that instead of mentioning that Israel was set up after WWII, he took the angle that there has always been a Jewish state in the geography from way back.

The physical name of the state Israel, as well as Palestine didn't exist until then. BUT Israelis have lived there, along with Arabs since the dawn of time.

Bottom Line. After WWII, the lands were partitioned. Israel accepted the partitioning, Palestinians didn't. Simple.

This conflict would be OVER in two shakes of a camel Johnson IF Palestinians would simply stop lobbing rockets, and Accept the partitioning............SIMPLE. That, or allow Israel to kill every single Hamas and Hesbolla terrorist in the land.

I don't disagree. My point was just that when you set up a new state with only input from one side in the region, you set up a recipe for disaster.

Most people get this wrong, and even I did. I was explaining it to my wife a couple nights, ago, and I KNEW that Palestine was created after WWI, not after WWII.

The "Key" to this is that even though the British Mandate for Palestine happened after WWI, not a single nation in the Middle East recognized Palestine. That is why it shows up on NO MAPS..........none. It was not until After WWII and the partitioning into the two majority factions, which had been living in the area for THOUSANDS of years, did Palestine actually get "recognized".

Again bottom line............If the terrorist factions in the Palestinian territory will stop fighting, there will be PEACE. Israel and Egypt are at peace due to LAND that Israel gave to Egypt. I believe Egypt will be a good partner in the future too, since their military government is cracking down on the smuggling tunnels from Egypt into the Palestinian territory.
