Amy tips for Dale Hollow this time of year?

I know this the absolute worst time to fish but we are down here for work for the entire week. We fished last night from about 8 pm - midnight. All I managed to catch was 2 small spots while my 2 co workers got skunked. We are staying at the State Park and I brought my boat. Any recommendations on what to throw or general areas to fish? I have been down here before in the dead of summer and done really well throwing in the grass beds.

    Thanks for any input!

Head up into Ilwill and find GRASS. Any of the spots that hold grass AND are close to a primary creek channel should hold baitfish. If the grass is close by, fish the grass.

That should get you on the fish.

Black hair jigs, Black 3/4 oz spinnerbaits with gigantic colorado blades.....black shakey head, or green shakey head.

    I hope this helps.

    Later,

    Geo

Just spent a few days on Dale and it was pretty tough. Did manage a few good topwater fish in the am/pm and occasionally a few jumps. Good luck and if you fish at night watch those "pleasure craft".

    Unhappy

My cousin and I fished till about 3 am this morning and had only 1 SM (small one).
Last few trips have been about the same. I have never hired a guide before but if you are down for the week you might ask around about getting one and maybe he could put you on the smallmouth. If you can get on them they are a blast to catch. Good Luck….

Thanks for the help Geo but we only managed 2. Caught a 17" LM in the grass in about 25 ft and managed another spot fairly shallow. We fished from about 11 PM - 3:30 AM. Idk if we will fish tonight but if we do I will post. Thanks again.

    tips

If you get tired of casting your arm off, pull under the light at the end of the dock and drop a minnow down to about 18 feet to catch some good eating crappie and an maybe a white or two
