Mitt Romney: The need for a strong US Military

Read the full article by Mr. Romney in The Washington Post. I think it's pretty well written.

Some argue that the United States should simply withdraw its military strength from the world — get out of the Middle East, accept nuclear weapons in Iran and elsewhere, let China and Russia have their way with their neighbors and watch from the sidelines as jihadists storm on two or three continents. Do this, they contend, and the United States would be left alone. No, we would not. The history of the 20th century teaches that power-hungry tyrants ultimately feast on the appeasers — to use former Mississippi governor Haley Barbour’s phrase, we would be paying the cannibals to eat us last. And in the meantime, our economy would be devastated by the disruption of trade routes, the turmoil in global markets and the tumult of conflict across the world. Global peace and stability are very much in our immediate national interest.

When ever I see these guys write or talk about military might, I look up the service records. NONE. then I know its bull crap!. Dont talk the talk if you cant do the walk[john wayne no service] haley none, mitt none

While I agree with you that military service obviously gives a person a much more intimate relationship with what soldiers truly go through and experience, just because you have not served doesn't mean that you aren't intelligent and can't understand how the puzzle pieces fit together when it comes to the relationship between a strong American military and international stability.

And hey...A large part of me also believes that military service should be required in your past to hold the office of Commander in Chief, but I'm not vetting a Presidential candidate here. I just thought it was a well written article that makes sense.

Dude, he's not even the FREAKIN president, and you want to talk **** about his service record.

What about Obama, What about Clinton.......neither of those douches served.

Reagan, Bush, and Bush all served........

If you are as tired of this muslim bullcrap as I am, Then re institute the draft, and do it right. In this country the well to do, call on the less fortunate to to show allegiance to our country, while they find ways to avoid most rep[onsibilities..Give everyone a chance to become a patriot.Yes I know that not all presidents served thier country. I just looked up the senators of the 100 of them just over 10% had military service.
