I see you're over here on the fishing boards too! Losing Sudfeld for the season just killed our whole season, i swear we're cursed. I've got a place down on Lake Barkley and spend lots of weekends down there chasing crappie/catfish/big redear too. Really thinking about moving down there from up here in Jeffersonville. TD75
Well i was doing good on the Ohio this weekend too but I was catching Smallmouth Bass ....So how polluted is the River ? I promise you this ,it cannot be too bad because Smallie cannot tolerate dirty waterThis is my first post. I will try and cover this http://owensboroliving.com/the-buzz/...hind-monsters/. I think it's cleaner than it's been in perhaps a century. Having said that, there's still spills that effect the river and I've seen some nasty foam like bubbles while catfishing the lower dam in Clarksville. We do boat in it occasionally and it's fairly clean upstream toward Charlestown.
Aaron puts on a great event. I think he found his calling. Fishing was very tough for the masses (including me). Fish were tight to cover and weren't actively feeding. Hats off to all that monied. It's awesome to show up to a catfish tournament and see that many high dollar rigs and people willing to travel several hours to use them. The sport has come a long way.
Yeah I live off Harrison and thats where I usually fish and I see that white foam too . But today they were 22ft of dam on the lower and I didn't wanna launch by myself down there way too roughI think it's cleaner than it's been in perhaps a century. Lat year we were fishing the lower dam for stripes and all we caught were smallies on those rouges !! I agree it's cleaner than it has been in centuries and Mac Spainhour said the zebra mussels help with that . In April fish the duck pond with a smoke tube bait and you catch a bunch of smallies fish the Ky side where it's shallow ...I am giving up my secrets ...but I dont care I dont fish any tournies on the Ohio and I want folks to see how many small mouth bass are in there
The river is much cleaner than it was when I was a kid. I think the Zebra Mussels and the Clean Water Act results over the years have helped. Speaking of Zebra Mussels, when i catch Redear at KY south of the bridge on 68/80 they are full of them. The question is will the river Redear explod also? PS I will make the trip again to B-town sat to take our ass wooping.I see you're over here on the fishing boards too! Losing Sudfeld for the season just killed our whole season, i swear we're cursed. You and your brother are troopers for being so dedicated, hasn't been much to cheer about the last 18 years. We've slipped on our attendance in recent years simply because of the mounting losses. The Twin Lakes are getting lots of our attention now days. We should hook up in the spring and chase those monster redears together.
I am currently without a boat so I would love to spring fish for Redear. I love the redhead Green jig with a meal worm. Everything will hit it. You are more than right about our boys. My son graduates in 15 and I may give it up, buy a boat and listen on the radio fishing the creeks in the Cannelton pool. You and your brother are troopers for being so dedicated, hasn't been much to cheer about the last 18 years.
