--We need to get this **** under control. I sure hope Canada starts to take things seriously.....This is a coordinated Muslim attack.....You think the fact that their citizens are not armed has anything to do with it.

Do you believe the united states citizens being unarmed was the reason for the public shootings in this country? It seems we have more guns per person in this country than any country on the planet and it doesn't seem to stop them here..
Gun ownership does not deter crime, it is debatable whether or not it promotes it but we should have the lowest crime rate on the planet if gun ownership was a deterrent, it simply is not...
WHAT planet are you living on?
Gun ownership DOES deter crime. There are statistics all over the place proving just that.........Do do your own research, because I'm simply too spent trying to justify stuff to you folks.
A gun, in this case, deterred FUTURE crime...sure did.

You can site a particular occurrence and profess it as proof and if a thug is killed in a situation it surely does "deter" that individual... Could you please explain why gun ownership in the US is 80 or 90 guns per 100 person but we don't seem to have the most crime free nation on the planet?... Doesn't quite seem to add up... According to you all we need to do is arm everybody and crime will go away, for some reason that doesn't seem to be working..
I have a different take on gun ownership. Places like Chicago, New York City, Memphis, LA California and a large list of other cities should have their own stats. Many of these places have the most strict gun laws but the worst gun related crimes. Why??? Gangs and folks who do not abide by the laws. You can site a particular occurrence and profess it as proof and if a thug is killed in a situation it surely does "deter" that individual... Regardless of any stat....it is my right to own a gun. I really don't need some data to prove I need a gun...if I want one then by God I will buy one.
Imo....crime in general would decrease if we actually followed through with laws instead of letting lawyers find some loop hole to get someone off.

I agree but Mr. Fishers post wasn't about whether or not we should have gun rights, I also agree gun laws don't prevent crime but that's just my opinion, that is why it is continually being debated, everybody doesn't have the same opinion.... Mr Fisher's opinion seemed to be more guns in canade might have been a deterrent to the thing that happened there and for that to have any merit we should be crime free here as we can own all the guns we choose to... I do not believe gun ownership has any effect on crime rate, you might be better equipped to protect yourself if you have one but more people carrying guns has no effect on whether or not you might need one, gun ownership rates in the us pretty much proves that..
It's true that we're one of the more well armed countries in the world based on production statistics etc., however, to an extent, gun ownership and availability to influence crime is a misnomer based largely on the archaic gun laws on the books in many states. Thankfully, SCOTUS has fixed this problem with their rekindling of 2nd Amendment Rights in the US. I can't say one way or another whether the ability of American's to carry has influenced the stats I can state that it is still to early to tell as we're still "fighting" for the right to be armed and to protect ourselves. Do gooders have continued to erect impediments to our ability to act in self defense, stand your ground should be the norm rather than the exception. Most states require a person to retreat which means you'll get shot in the back as you try to retreat. By placing restrictions on self-defense it's no wonder folks are afraid to protect themselves. I can tell you that race on race crime has decreased markedly once concealed carry laws were loosened and the scrots realized folks may be armed. Black on white confrontations have decreased markedly. The media doesn't like to talk about this nor does the government. It doesn't take a genius to realize just what "Fast and Furious" was all about, it was a government attempt to throw gas on the fire of gun control, how many recall the statements "the HAG" (Clinton) said when she was the Secretary of State and Fast and Furious was in the news showing how bad all us gun owners were. She used this as a rallying call for more gun control, she lambasted legal gun owners as part of the problem playing along with the Mexican president who was complaining that the majority of guns used in the border areas were US? NOT! Luckily some of the news organizations in Texas shoved this one up their collective arses but that didn't stop Madame Secretary from beating the drums for gun control.
The gun debate may go on forever but I do not believe the us will lose it's right to bear arms in the near future anyway...
Yeah fast and furious was a mess. Even got someone killed by their games....seems like they will so anything to try and steer folks to gun control. They break the law and it's just doing business....we break the law and we are prosecuted. It's true that we're one of the more well armed countries in the world based on production statistics etc., however, to an extent, gun ownership and availability to influence crime is a misnomer based largely on the archaic gun laws on the books in many states. No , Mr Fishers point was that an UNARMED citizenry is a TARGETED citizenry.--
