I must have missed the other posts as I didn't see them until after I searched for a photo and figured out how to upload it to this forum. As soon as I checked the thread again I saw toomanycast's post with pictures of his crappie. So I deleted my post.

I never have really fished the Ohio River much. I use to take my boat out on the River a lot but not for fishing.

I read where the crappie come up out of the river into the smaller creeks up in Perry County and that the crappie fishing up there in the spring is fantastic. But I've read that the crappie also make a fall run up into the same areas. I just never have bothered to take the boat up there. Maybe some day next spring I may hook up the boat and drive up to Rockport and fish those creeks up there.

I see a lot of fisherman launching from the Newburgh Launch ramp in the winter months and fishing below Newburgh Dam for sauger. But I bet that there are some big catfish in that area too. There are a couple of smaller creeks that run into the Ohio River in that area on the IN side but I would not want to eat fish caught out of those creeks. One is where the city of Newburgh dumps it treated sewage and the other is really muddy as it runs though a lot of tilled up farm land area.

There was a guy on here years ago...........went by Captain Chip. I went out with him once, and he showed me some areas on the river. Showed me a couple crappie holes. I was shocked you could catch serious crappie on the river. If you know where to look and how to navigate the area, you can find plenty of crappie on the river.

AND they are big ones too
