I've been down fishing since last Friday. Found bait and fish every day. Fish were light biting last Friday and Saturday but have been very eager ever since. I did not fish yesterday and may or may not today. If I do today, it will be with a spoon and bucktail as I don't want to take any more. We have to go through lots of short fish before the windy day, but found nothing but quality fiah since. Each day has been a new day with the fish changing areas and presentations sometimes hourly. One day it might be down rods on bluffs, the next it could be on the edge of flats, or on the flats with planer boards. I have usually spent an hour or so looking before setting out the first line. I have spent all my time in the last third of the creeks. Alewives have been easy to catch in the slip and the fish have hit everything from 4 inches up, although some days they did prefer the 6 and up baits. We have literally caught so many that I went through two landing nets. The attached pic was from the day with 30 MPH winds. We were really lucky to find fish that day, and still had lots of problems with the wind. But, we managed. Of course I had two other people on the boat. This was the only day I allowed more that four to be kept, stopping after we had four in the bag.
I would start looking in 40-60 ft on soft gravel points, edges of flats, flats on sunny days, then bluffs. Schools are not huge but at least they are schooled some.
