Shut down the opportunities to work legally and ILLEGALLY and be done with it. But I will tell you this. I know a ton of folks who bitch about Mexicans stealing jobs, and then hire an all Mexican crew to roof their house, or frame there new building, or do their lawn work.

If you want to bitch about the illegal laborers, be ready to pay a premium.

I've been a carpentry subcontractor for over 35 years,worked both residential and commercial jobs.Rough-Framed for Northern Kentucky Homebuilders a lot and was known as one of the top framers in the area.I'll give you a list of HomeBuilders and you can ask yourself,not blowing hotair,stating facts.
I carried Workers Comp,2 million $ in Liablity Insurance,had life and Health Insurance on my employees,paid all occupational licenses and local,state,and federal taxes.
I was a member of the Local,State,and National Home Builders Association and volunteered to teach carpentry skills at ABC classes (Associated Builders and Contractors,Volunteered on many Homes for needy and low income projects.
I also was a member of the Kentucky Association of General Contractors and have done work in Kentucky,Ohio,Indiana,Tennessee,Virginia,New Jersey,California,and Florida as well as on Grand Cayman Island,in the Bahamas,and Jamaica

I cannot tell you the thousands of homesand commercial projects I have had to go back on that Mexicans/Hispanics,Russians,and other foreigners worked on and repair from shoddy craftsmanship,including important structural mistakes that jeopardized the structures.

If these Illegals carried all the Insurance and Trade requirements that I was forced to,do you think their costs would have been cheaper? You get what you pay for,if you want **** slapped on fast and halfassed,that's what you get,but I never saw any Mexicans or otherwise that could outwork,do better quality,than my crew before my injuries.

Funny how we hear how these people work so cheap when they aren't subjected to the same rules and regulations as Americans are,you want to know why Americans have the work ethics they do? Because of Government Regulations and all the BS forced on us that Illegals don't deal with

I completely, completely agree with you.......it doesn't change the fact the same folks are the ones hiring illegals.

Insurance companies want to get roofs replaced the cheapest they can, so they almost always use the lowest bigger, and that lowest bidder is mexican because of the rules you talk about .

ELIMINATE those opportunities, and you will resolve a bunch of issues. Not only that, but good, honest folks I know who simply cannot make a living will be able to compete once again.

Well, Polly won't respond again but from your post it seems government regs have required you to be the contractor you just described so not having to comply with "all the BS forced on us that Illegals don't deal with" then everybody would be doing less that quality work and you don't see it as gov interference improving the quality of workmanship? .. I suspect if we get rid of illegals and do away with gov regs then shoddy workmanship would be the norm with the exception of the price.. remember the cars in the 50's 60's and 70's before japanese competition and gov interference made american car manufactures get better or go broke?... Let's be clear here, Illegals can work cheaper because they aren't hamstringed with all the overhead of being taxed to death from every Tom,****,and Harry govt agency with their hands stuck out.

Illegals don't follow building codes,OSHA regs,Insurance,and licensing requirements that Americans are forced to have and do.

Illegals do shoddy work because they don't give a hoot about the finished product,only about making a fast $$$ and getting away.Legal American contractors Do Care about the finished product because their reputation and livelihood depend on what they do.

Illegals are here to take,Americans are here for the long haul and give as well as take.
