    UK forward Alex Poythress OUT

It was announced earlier today that he tore his ACL in practice and will miss the rest of his junior season. I think this will hurt more than people think. He was a locker room leader and voice on the court. Sometimes he could be an explosive play guy that would rattle in a thunderous dunk and ignite the offense. The UK roster is deep so there won't be a lack of bodies to replace him. Like I said though the team just lost an experience player and leader. Tough loss before the cats go into chapel hill tomorrow .

I hate it for the kid. He has under-performed 2 seasons at UK and I kinda thought this might be his breakout year. UK will be OK...I think someone else will step up and we are as deep a team as I have seen. It does hurt to lose experience though. The Harrisons have got to PLAY.

Alex will be back for his senior year though I guess.

Oh, and the Carolina game is at Rupp.

I don't cheer for the cats but never ever want to see a kid hurt. I hope he makes a full recovery .

Yea I hated seeing this as I really like Alex seems like a good kid. He will be back next year so that helps a lot it would have been terrible if it had been his senior. I wish him a speedy recovery.

Like all sport injuries, it is hard to say if they will heal and be as strong. Sometimes ACL injuries can end up being stronger. However, there can be something very positive come out of this situation. With rehabilitation he could come back next year stronger with a new attitude and better skills. That would be a BIG plus for him and next year's team.
