As for what to do...Charleston itself is just an interesting place to see, especially if you like historic architecture and what not, just start walking about anywhere downtown. If you like seafood, I haven't found a bad restaurant there yet. Of course, there's the big market downtown if you're into artsy collectibles and such (they also offer horse drawn carriage rides with a little history lesson about the city near the market) Many people like to stop by and see The Battery when they're in the area.
