Chuck go to lake Cumberland and fish with Lance Sasser. He is as good a guide as there is on that lake and in my opinion the best one. I call him occassionally to get fishing info and he talks with me like we are long lost buddies. He is a fine man and will put you on the Stripers. He does lake and river trips and he is mack daddy on both.

This is for Stripers, pure Rock fish. Yes there are a few Hybrids accidently in the lake but you will be chasing the true Stripes with Lance.

I started chasing hybrids at Taylorsville lake last summer and it was great fun. Broke my personal best 3 weeks in row, 5lb then 6lb then 8lb. Had one trip with a buddy and caught one every cast for 2 hours after work with only one under 15". We could only keep 10 as we each had 5 over 15", not that we wanted to keep any more. The 8lb below I released.

I really need to make a trip to Cumberland to catch a real one, never have.

Jared Harmon of Cumberland Striper Charters is one of, if not the best, guide on the lake imo. He fishes both ends of the lake unlike the other guides. His number is (606) 872-1515. Phil Glass of Conley Bottom Striper guides also a great guide. Lance is very good also. Let them teach you and you will be catching them on your own soon enough!

Thanks guys! I will be calling them tomorrow.

Mvortex, is there a striper guide on Taylorsville?

One other question, I stopped by the taylorsville spillway Saturday and a guy down there said he catches musky in the spillway and on the lake. I have never heard of them being in there? Am i wrong?

I have seen Tim Farmer (KY Afield) videos with this guide on Taylorsville and other lakes. I have not used a guide and just try to figure it out myself. I saw you are in LaGrange and figured Taylorsville was closest as I live just outside of LaGrange near Ballardsville. Do not know if you have a boat or not though. With all this said, Cumberland lake or River is really the place to go for a real one.
