It mostly depends on the temp. I've seen early April temps in the low to mid 50's some years and mid 60's in other years. If the temps are in the 60's it should be on unless a cold front blows through. If it's in the low 50's you might need to bring some dynamite. Of course in the spring other variables will come into play like high water in some years and clear water in other years. To increase the chances of catching instead of fishing I would wait till late April if possible.
