I've spoke my piece in this thread already but tonight I ordered a mcdouble and large fries at McDonald's and got.........
A quarter pounder with no mustard, medium fries, and a free look at the guy with 3 lip rings that handed it to me. The first thing that immediately came to mind was man that order would've been right had he made $20 an hour.

I suspect it would have had a better chance had the person that made it for you made a wage that he didn't want to lose.
You feel so strongly about it, everytime you go to a fast food restaurant you should tell them you would like to pay them $20 bucks to make your order
I know right. Just imagine how hard he'd be willing to work if he knew that free government check wasn't waiting in the mailbox every first of the month.

When I first started at Winn Dixie I like $3 an hour what ever the minimum wage was at the time. Did not want to loose that job so I worked hard. I also want to be a stock boy and not be a baggier any more so I work harder and got promoted. Then I wanted to go into the meat dept. so i kept working hard and made it there as well. Imagine how motivated I would have been if I would have made more than a minimum wage.
You can't teach work ethic paying more for an entry level job is not the answer. What would help is if two guys are hungry and only one sandwich, AND NO GOVERNMENT BAIL OUT, how hard would you work to get that sandwich. That is what would teach work ethic.

A few post back, maybe a zillion the way this thread has gone,or might have been in the other thread, there was a post that said something to the effect of ' good jobs don't have to hunt for people to fill them' or something to that effect, what do you think was meant by that?..
I do agree that ambition is a stronger motive than pay scale but that has nothing to do with massive numbers of people working at jobs that would require them to choose between food, housing, heat because they simply cannot provide all for their family and healthcare simply would not exist in those situations... Our government is way over inflated but we do a good job of not having people freezing and starving, I think even though it is very costly and is abused, I would prefer we not have people freezing and starving... Contrary to what the right wing spews out, the entire welfare slice of the pie is 11 or 12 percent including aid to the disabled and all the other folks who cannot provide for themselves, we need to do a better job of policing the system but we do not need to get rid of it.... We do need to improve wages to the to the point of people being able to provide for themselves and not need assistance while they work a full time job....
If they had to pay $20 per hour that guy wouldn't be working there. If you had an employee making $15 and you raised his pay to $20 would he word harder, smarter or be a better employee?
