my first wolf creek dam exerience

I read all I could for about a week and decided to say heck with it and plan a trip to the Dam. tried to find someone to go with me,someone who knew the ropes. Excitedly I got to the dam at 6 am and no one there. I had this idea to wait and maybe talk to some would be fishermen since I knew nothing. 7am no one; 7:45 here come the first truck and it was a couple guys fishing from the bank casting. Scared to death all I read about the dangerous water I launched, carefully I advanced to edge of fast moving water and calm and hung around with the help of trolling motor. I used a 3/8 oz. jig tip with a white plastic tail, and after two hours no luck. Then some boats started showing up and going in white water quit close to dam and drifting back about 150 yards or so. I did see them catching a few small sauger once in a while. Then they stop generating and it went silent. I switched to a jig tiped minnow and caught three rainbows. To be honest I was proud of that and the chance I took with no knowledge of ever fishing there before No walleye or sauger caught I went home. Another day more information,i will be back.

That back down to the ramp is a hoot ain't it?

One of the reasons I haven't put my boat in there is the ramp. I am not 100% sure but maybe further downstream in Burkesville there is another ramp. If so I may put in there and motor up.

Had trailer come off of ball half way up that ramp and I was in the boat. Thank god for good safety chains, I think someone was going to borrow my trailer in the parking lot until they realized the chains were padlocked to the truck. Master lock held but it scared the crap out of me

http://www.tva.gov/lakes/wch_r.htm If you're going to wolf creek dam you need to follow these release times for the dam. Copy and paste the link. Helm's Landing and Winfrey's Ferry are the next two ramps. This stretch is the best in the state for trout.
