Getting ready for my Kissimmee Chain Trip

My first snell knot and flipping hook punch rig. This is for my light work in moderate weeds and pads for my upcoming week long trip.
I'm using 20# Red Label Seaguar Fluorocarbon line, 4/0 VMC Flipping Hook, Dominator 3/8 Tungsten weight, 6th Sense punch stop and the new (for me) snell knot. Rod is a Cumara 7'2" medium Heavy with a shimano Chronarch 7:1 ratio reel. I know some people like to play the low gear ratio for winching power idea but I grew up using fast ratio reels (6:1) and love it that way. I can pitch faster since I get my bait back quicker with a 7:1 ratio plus I use a left handed reel which is even quicker with my hands never passing the reel back and forth and unless I hook a bass with shoulders he is doing what I say with this rig!!

My true punch rig will be much more stout. I'll work on it next week.

Here is what I love about this technique.

The first pic is how the bait would hang on that snelled hook. I'm pulling it slightly to show that since I don't want to waste a punch craw on it right now.

The second pic is me pulling the sinker down to illustrate what happens to that snelled hook once that sinker puts pressure on the top of the hook like during a hook set. Look at how that hook shoots up into a angle that's ready to sink into some bass-mouth meat!! I have never used this type of rig and I'm PUMPED to stick some bass using this!! Yeah my old way works but heck this looks like it would work waaaaay better.

Thanks, looking forward to it! Gonna hit the boat show tonight and with all the boats, tackle and bass tank being there I bet I'll buy something. Hard to not get in the mood with all that going on..... Especially if there are some good deals on rods and reels..

Have a great trip, hope you wear em out!

BTW, check out that knot Peter posted. After all these years, it's the best knot I've ever found. Beats Palomar and Improved Clinch hands down for strength/size, and you don't have to lick your line.
