    Boat slid off trailer

Early November several years ago, I had the itch to fish on a 40 degree day. After getting blanked on a windy day with the current MOVING, I loaded up at sunset. My small jon-boat slipped off my trailer and back into the creek. By myself, I had to make the tough decision to strip down and jump in after it. I didn't want the boat and everything still in it going over the dam located a short ways downstream. That was the coldest water and the longest swim of my life...I swear I thought I was going to die before catching it.
The thought occurred to me while reading these posts that, for many of us, we are pretty blessed in our unluckiest moments.

Decided to fish one night around dark so I loaded up. I got to the ramp only to have to wait out a severe thunderstorm warning...no big deal the fish will tear it up afterwards...rain stopped so I prepared the boat...straps off, gear on front deck, black lights plugged in, plug in, trolling motor plugged up and on....I back her in throw the truck into park and set my e brake...I untie the boat from the front and jump in to fire the motor....smoke oh crap where in that coming from?...I panic and start ripping at wires burning my hand in the process...My blacklight cord had been pinched in my seat bracket and shorted out and caught fire. Lucky me I ripped out the right handful of cords so the boat wouldn't go ablaze. I had to trailer the boat and work on it under the dock light for an hour to get anything to work besides my trolling motor and big motor. I got the lights and livewell pump to work but no bilge....lucky me it started storming an hour later so with no bilge I had to head back home. Pride hurt I called into work the next afternoon to work on my baby and get her back on the water.
