I had a friend who wanted to go over to cland on Sunday. We drove over and only had a little more then 3 hours to fish. Thought that would be plenty with the way they had been biting. The fish did their part. We had 5 bites total. 3 on the jig and 2 takes on shiners. 0 brought to the boat. As I pulled on the last point, I noticed a school of shad with fish in them at 70 ft. Yep, I know what that should be so I dropped a shiner in on them and did catch this and boy was it a handful on medium spinning tackle and 6lb flouro. Tried to find that school again but those dang stripers are hard to stay on top of.
I think maybe those dark and cloudy days my not suit my style of winter fishing as well. If anyone fished on Sunday and had luck, I'd be interested to know if you caught them on something mid-water like a F-n-F or jerkbait or something. Even though we had some action, they were definitely not positioned on those spots as well as they were when the sun was out. Thought about pulling out a f-n-f but really didn't have enough time to experiment.
