Risk of Proxy War or Worse in Ukraine

After a few years off, I revisited this site and found some interesting dialogue with a good mix of liberal and conservative perspectives.

I'm curious what you guys think about the crisis evolving in Ukraine? I know its not on the major news cycle here in America that much, but the issue looms large with potentially catastrophic risks and is a central issue in Europe and Asia.

Should we agree to send lethal arms to Kiev? Should we carry on with plans of sending a brigade of our military forces to western Ukraine to train their troops? Do we stand to defend any true principles or gain more than we lose, no matter how this situation turns out? It seems there may have been outside influences affecting the ouster of the former, pro-Russian president, and many in Crimea consider themselves more Russian anyhow.

What if Russia's military came to, say Mexico, to train troops there? How would we respond?

If you have any thoughts, please share. The more I research, the less I think we know what the hell is going to happen over there.

I doubt there is much chance of a nuclear anything because of this but I guess the potential is there, that is more scary than the middle east... People are on edge over the middle east but I think the best think we can do is leave those sand rats alone and they will deal with ISIS... Giving them support any way except combat troops on the ground I don't have a problem with.... Face to face with russia is spooky..

It looks to me like Jordan has proven they have the capacity to deal with these animals and they are just one country.. There are more countries than jordan being threatened by these animals... they do not need us ground troops.

I find it funnier than crap that the Obama appeasement tour in 2008 has backfired.

You know, do you suppose Putin would be pulling his **** if we had armored divisions and Pershing II missile batteries there? I don't think so.

All of Europe, including the former Soviet satellites turned on the United States when the Obamunist was elected. To be fair, they were turning a little before that, but Obama's ******** appeasement tour all over Europe in 2007 sure didn't help.

I say screw them. Maybe send support, but nothing else. Reagan knew, Bush knew, Bush II knew, Hell even Romney Knew.

If that dumbass Obama didn't know or didn't think that Putin and Russia were dangerous...well shame on him and his administration.

No, I say let Europe deal with this issue.

And even as we speak..........more LETHAL arms to the region

A-10's are being sent to the European theater. We're not sending them to look purty. They are being sent as a show of force.
