You were just asking a question and I don't think Dave thought you were worried-worried. I have wondered the same thing.

I have read some saltwater guys like blue. Matches the sky (on a sunny day).

I don't think it really matters a whole lot as far as getting fish in the boat. I have had several occasions where bass have come out from under the boat to grab a bait, so they were obviously not spooked. If I were buying a new boat (dream on), the hull color would be all about aesthetics, nothing else.

Sorry if my post came across like a smart alec...was not meant to be taken like that. I always tell my clients that want to learn is that one of the biggest mistakes that bass anglers make is that we try to out think a creature that does not have the brain capacity to "think" in the first place....meaning we are constantly over complicating our approach to catching bass. The bass only does 3 things during it's life..that is they have babies once a year, they rest and they eat. They are just trying to survive and they learn to do what they need to do to survive through repetition and conditioning. I could type a number of pages on this subject but it all comes back to the same 3 things they do during their life and we have taken those 3 basic things and built a multi billion dollar industry by over complicating something that is so basic.

If they will eat a bait pulled along by an erector set (Alabama Rig) why are you worried about hull color or for that matter many of the other myths instigated by the industry to get you to spend more money?

My big laugh is about guys that throw the ARig on fluoro because they think braid will spook the fish while the 5 big metal wires dont bother them

It's never crossed my mind until you said this but it would have to cause you a lot of aggravation when clients of yours expect you to have the newest and greatest of everything on your boat. My Dad used to go out on the lakes when they were muddy in early spring and catch monster bass with nothing but a jon boat, paddle, heavy duty cane pole, a length of 50lb mono, a few 4/0 hooks and a bucket of nightcrawlers. He'd wad several nightcrawlers on the hook so they were all squiggly and quietly scull the boat around anything that would be cover and gently dipped the crawlers down into the thickest part of the cover that he could see. The trick is detecting the bite and quickly lifting the fish out of the cover before it realized it was hooked. Any hesitation on his part and it was over. Now we are led to believe that we can't catch anything without $10000.00 worth of electronics and gear in the boat.

That is funny and a classic example of what Dave was saying about people trying to out think something that does not think. In that case the companies that sell the flouro are the biggest winners and the fisherman are the ones that are not thinking.

According to ichthyologist most fish can see different shades of color but for all practical purposes they are color blind. With that said if you have ever done very much diving once you get 10 or 15 feet below a boat hull and look up the hull will regardless of actual color look grey or black even if you are in clear water and you are a human that can see color with 20/20 vision.

Very funny and it's a good idea too. I'd paint them to appear as if they were swimming normally and being observed from below. IE the paintings shows the ventral portion of the minnows as they would be seen from below.

I throw an A-Rig with 5 helicopter lures on it.......works awesome . And I like to use trolling wire....
