My mom is one of them, she is a danger to herself an others and could never pass a basic test on driving skills written or road test. Out of love we took the keys away....we all know when that should happen based on each their accidents and inability to comprehend road signs and conditions.

I agree and probably a better way is a periodic eye or driving skills test for everyone....it would assist in weeding out the bad and dangerous without targeting one group.
I've noticed that when a driver is doing something stupid while driving, sits a red light after it turns green, speeds up and slows down on the interstate, etc is not usually a senior driver but instead is someone using a cell phone. I would speculate that the average senior driver is a much better driver than the average non-senior driver that is using a cell phone while driving would be. I would also speculate that the same non-senior driver would be comparable to a driver that is under the influence of alcohol as far as situational awareness and reaction times go. Btw, I know it had to break your heart but you did the right thing for your Mom.
