I'm planning on taking my father's old Mitchell reel and Fenwick rod up to Wisconsin. This outfit has been in my possession since his passing in 1982 and I want to honor him by catching one more fish with his fishing gear.....just for him.

That's so awesome...I hope you catch a trophy with it on the first cast.I'm planning on taking my father's old Mitchell reel and Fenwick rod up to Wisconsin. I'd give anything if I still had my Grandfather's old Fenwick rod and Johnson casting reel. It was older than me, no doubt. Somewhere along the way it has gotten gone and it saddens me. I was probably young and dumb and didn't realize how much it would mean to me someday, because it wasn't the latest and greatest high-tech cool stuff.
I do have his old prized S&W Revolver that he left to me...he loved that gun...and a couple of months after he died, I decided to take it out and shoot it one last time for him. I loaded 6 in the chamber, paced off about 20 yards or so, looked down the barrel, and fired at the paper target...just off-handed...not really trying for any kind of super-accuracy or anything. It was the most absolute dead-center bullseye that you could get. I couldn't have walked up point blank and did it any truer. I laughed, said "Thanks, Papaw" and unloaded the other 5...haven't fired it since.
