Taking a trip to lake barkley

Planning on going down next weekend. Going to try fishing for some if them big blue gill and then do some bow fishing below the dam to put a small dent in those invasive carp. Does anybody have places they would recommend for lodging around the dam?

Of course there is lodging at Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park there at Kentucky Dam ....they have lodge rooms, smaller cabins and executive cabins. If you prefer a smaller cheaper motel, I would recommend The Bel Air which is located right outside the state resort park...nice folks that keep it clean. Both only about 3 miles from Barkley Dam and you have The Barkley Dam Motel where a number of folks stay which is located on U.S. 62 just below the dam. Poplar Creek Lodge is a popular motel which is located about 3-4 miles east of Barkley Dam on U.S. 62

The Regency Inn in Eddyville is great! Very easy parking; there's a lot of places you don't have to unhook. I just walked in the door after spending three nights there, plus just two weeks ago I spend four nights there. Very clean and friendly to fisherman.

Another decent place to stay but not close to the dam is the Great American Motel in Aurora. It is about 7/10 of a mile from entrance to Kenlake State Park. I just stayed there on Friday night. I was there for my son's graduation from Murray State. There were several fishermen there. Not a lot of frills but do you really need them. They have room out front to park your rig hooked up and plug it in. The owners who have not been there very long are very nice and welcoming. They are constantly doing what they can to make the place better and welcome suggestions. In season, like now, I paid $57 for the night with taxes and fees. My room had two full-size beds, a mini-fridge and microwave. I don't remember if it had a coffee pot only because I don't drink coffee. I do remember seeing two cups though so maybe there was one. Just ask when you call to book a room. There is also a pool but it was not open yet.

Peter, I just had a thought that maybe you could dedicate a page or thread (whatever it is called) on here where we can put lodging information for the places we all stay. That way when we go to a new lake or even one we fish alot we can know in advance of a few places to stay and general costs.
