we've caught somewhere around 45 smallmouth this week, kinda lost count, anywhere from 15 to right at 22 inches. all of these fish were caught on live bait and they were anywhere from 15 feet of water 10 yards off the bank to 100 yards off the bank in 120 feet of water. 99% of the fish (that weve seen ) are spawned out and are roaming open water chasing the schools of shad all the way down to 40 feet, roughly half the smallmouth weve caught have been suspended around the 20ft mark.
so when theyre not swimmin theyre eatin.
i know this probably doesnt help you if you plan on throwing artificial....but thats the where, what, when and how ive been doing it
