Haven't heard from you George but I can confirm it for you...we whacked them on Barkley this morning on topwater.

What lures do people like to use when fishing top water? I don't do a lot of top water fishing myself so don't really have a favorite that works. Many years ago on some smaller natural lakes I used to fish with a Hula Popper with some success. Would a Hula Popper be a good choice in some smaller coves on Barkley?
If in or near cover I like a buzzbait. Open water or bluff walls I throw a spook type bait as far as I can throw it.
spook's, buzzbaits and popr's

Man...........
I've struggled a little but to be honest I'm not fishing much. I wanted to still take this trip but I've been down in my shoulder for 6-8 weeks now.
I did manage to catch a couple on top today on South Barkley.
Hey, THANKS. I used some of the info you provided and got on a stellar top water bite in some of the areas you talked about.
I tell you what guys.....if you've NOT taken Dave's class on bait and when where and how, he was spot on with some stuff I learned a few years ago while taking the class.
He confirmed that recently, and all I gotta say is FUN![]()
.
Top water in the evening is good too![]()
. We waded through a bunch of short fish, but managed 3 solid keepers tonight.
