You also got shift differential, time and a half on saturday and sunday (probably) and odds are double time on holidays.

If you did, you really cannot bitch about the odd hours, and weekends, and holidays........

The one thing in our society that I WISH companies still offered was a stake in the game after you put in 20 or 30 years. I'm fortunate that I've been able to save while working, but if you work 30 years at a place, it sure would be nice drawing a pension as part of your employment.

    Just sayin.

Anti Union here as well. I guess you still don't understand why alot of us are anti union. Personally, my experiences with Unions show how crooked they are. They waste so much of taxpayers money in the area I see that it's criminal.

BTW.....You can retire from the Military and be Anti Union, you can retire from the private sector and be anti union as well.

If your argument for unions is that you get a pension......thats pretty narrow minded and imo... the end does not justify the means.

believe it or not, I do understand that, I just threw the union thing out there at Geo mostly because you guys were drilling Kygorski over retiring from a union job. I'm union all the way, and would buy lunch for you two nonunion fishin.com agitators anytime.

I can defend myself, but thanks

I didn't need to be a "rocket scientist" to make a living wage where I lived. There were plenty of good paying jobs.I worked my ass off on hard well paying work. If I needed more, there were tons of part times jobs that paid well. I worked,my wife stayed home after the kids were born, she had a job, raising two children born in the same year, helping them get an education, learn the true values, and act independly of the peer crowd. The best lesson was no one owed you a living, you work hard and you get rewarded later in life[ maybe]. Both my kids graduated with honors from good schools, All my grand kids are in college, one graduated and two are seniors. Last year at a get together, I asked the grand kids their politics, guess what. they have none. It seems that politics are for old folks!

I completely agree with all of this.

And my comments about odd hours, and pay really had nothing to do with unions, etc, etc. It was more about the fact that you got paid more to work odd hours, weekends, holidays, etc, etc.

I know a crap ton of union folks who work CRAZY weird hours for the shift differential and time plus for holidays.

My point was that you really cannot make it an issue yourself if you were adequately compensated for those nights and weekends and holidays. Hell lots of people volunteer for that work just for the extra money
