I think we all should be able vote on it instead having five supreme court justices and one president tell a nation of 319,000,000 people what they can and can't do.

You are correct. The First and Tenth constitutional amendments has taken a heck of beating by the rainbow followers as of late. Maybe they can make a county clerk give them a piece of paper but they can't make me approve of their lifestyle and if a dyke ever hits on me I'll exercise my right to give her a good ole country butt whooping.

Yes, the ballot. But how come when an issue comes up on the ballot, it is worded in some cases to confuse the issue. And like in Ca. and Or. on the pot issue, the feds still will not completely comply with state law. Law? Law is for the poor to suffer under, and the well to do do to make. Pure and simple!!!

There is a reason that Supreme court justices should interpret the law, not make it. Nowhere in the constitution does it say that they have the power to write law. With their ruling(only took 5 of them), they not only nullified Religious rights, but turned hundreds, if not thousands of Christians in this country who work for the government, into potential criminals over night. There is currently a black lesbian judge in Texas that will not grant marriages to straight people. She is still a judge and nothing has (or will) happened to her. It's getting to the point that Christians will not be able to work in government because of all the social engineering that's been going on for a very long time now. Government isn't(shouldn't)be in the business of doing anything but protecting us. From what I understand, the KY clerk has no problem giving the piece of paper, she just doesn't want her name on it. She asked the government to compromise by taking her name off, but got a big no. Lets see what the legislature does when they finally get together. The 5 judges in black in their humanistic wisdom have nullified states rights too. Not what our founders had in mind. These 5 judges have nullified the will of millions of people in all 50 states(57 if you are a BO supporter), so voting on the issue isn't an option. There are 3 branches of government(unless you are a BO supporter) and the 5 justices belong to one of the branches that can't make law. What a mess. It's open season on Christianity. Christians will continue to get rolled because they don't fight back. One of the reasons Christians first came to this country was because of religious persecution. They started off good, even coming up with a constitution, but it has been misread, misinterpreted, rewritten, and just plain ignored to the point where Christians are being thrown in jail without bond for their beliefs. I do like to see Liberals turn on one of their own for a change. If the clerk had just had an affair in her office with a young intern, lied to a grand jury about it, asked others to lie, bomb an aspirin factory, kill a janitor in Iraq, or maybe delete thousands of emails, lie about them, lie about Benghazi, claim a vast right wing conspiracy, then maybe she would get some support.

Was she elected as a minister of the christian faith, or as clerk for the county? All this is is her beliefs, not the public who pays her way, and lets her hire relatives to good paying jobs.She's got this mixed up, God created man in HIS image,We create God in our image. She is a government official and as such she should do her job. If she thinks that her beliefs are greater than the laws of the USA maybe she should go find another country to live in or start complying with the law.

Now I'm not in favor of same sex marriage. I don't think that's right. But the law is the law and she like everyone else needs to follow and obey the laws.

When a judge tells you to issue the marriage license or go to jail then you either issue the license or you end up in jail. You don't fool around with a federal judge. She's in contempt of court and thus is behind bars.

I think it’s admirable for a public official to say that he or she won’t enforce any law that’s fundamentally immoral and in contradiction to God’s laws. But the only way to keep that promise consistent with the oath of office is for the official to resign when she thinks enforcing the law would be wrong. Given Davis’ statement of faith that it would violate her interpretation of God’s will to issue a marriage license to a same-sex couple, she should quit her position as county clerk. She must resign or she’d be living in a position of hypocritical sin. Keep in mind that by saying she won't issue the marriage licenses while serving in office, Davis is also, if I may say so, committing a sin by violating an oath she made before God to uphold the Constitution and laws of the United States and the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Unfortunately the law now requires her to issue licenses for gay couples. Every moment she disobeys the law, she is violating her oath of office. The Bible doesn’t look kindly on oath-breaking. The only way for her to emerge from the state of hypocritical sin is to resign.

Before you tell me that the Constitution doesn’t require states to allow gay marriage just because the Supreme Court says it does, think again. Like it or not (in this case I don't) the Supreme Court’s interpretation of law and the Constitution is binding and that’s a constitutional principle that can’t be denied by anyone who works for any part of the U.S. government.

The bigger issue for me is that this situation demonstrates just how difficult it is to remove an elected official from office. Our government is so far removed from reality that it's no wonder everything is screwed up. If any of us in the "real world" refused to do our job, we would have been removed quickly and quietly. No questions asked.

I get that the person was elected, but when there's really no expectation that you need to keep your job by performing its essential duties at a certain level, then you can see why our government functions so pathetically in general.

Yeah in the larger scope of things I am fed up with the gubment. I have zero faith that we will once again be a great nation. Good? Sure we will be but the type of people in power now and the millions of people who support their ideals is what scares me. I would rather live here than anywhere in this world but I am tired of watching the spineless tactics of the Liberals who want to sell-out everything to appear tolerant and in doing so slowly waters down any social responsibility.

I place this gay issue low on my list of wrongs by the gubment. It bothers me but so do a ton of other things being done by this new wave of bumbling, lying crooks the Liberals seem to love. Are there bad eggs on the GOP side? YES!! But the difference is....well sometimes its hard to tell the difference!!

I do however place the approach of idolizing people like obama as a major symptom of the cancer that is growing in society.

Also, I do wonder how deep the Liberal "open minds" will go. I mean if gay marriage is ok what about a man or woman marrying more than one man or woman? How many Transgenders can be married to eachother or mixed with gays? Maybe they can marry animals? Kids? Where does it stop? At what point do you shut the door to this pandora's box?? When you do decide enough is enough haven't you just committed the same bigotry you accuse others of right now? The irony of being so flippant on social issues as most Liberals are comes with consequences. You see it's easy to sit back and judge social practices, laws, traditions or the Constitution but when you actually change laws or disregard laws things become your responsibility...but sadly not many Liberals have the ability to take responsibility. Maybe that's the answer? Talk and scream for justice and if you get what you want and it doesn't quite work out blame someone else!!

I'm beginning to think that some of you guys have done this.There is NO liberal God, There isn't a conservative one either.But there is a clerk in jail for contempt of court. She should quit,its her right to go on a public pulpit and preach her beliefs.But as an elected official, she swore to the same god to uphold the constitution of the USA, I'd call her a zealot. [ the same thing as KOOK]. She should go and have her TS card punched, and find a new job.
