Have the cooler nights and days, and rain this passed weekend helped the surface action any?

I'm thinking if its starting, the mouths of the creeks, the flats where they exist, and the area around the deep water transition off the channels near the dam might be places to check.

Do those sound generally like the right patterns to explore?

surface temps 74 this morning, single fish popping the surface very few and far between, nothing you could chase for sure. As far as timing goes anything that happens now or in the near future wont be "early" .....it is already a month late, and they arent even close to staging up in a schooling pattern that would suggest they are close to jumping. The only schooling activity is still in the 75ft deep range.

I was getting anywhere from 67 down to 60 depending on which part of the lake I was on this weekend

    60 degrees................???

Hmmm you might wanna check that temp gauge. 67 sounds about right but 60....that means it dropped ten degrees in less than 6 days, Wow...

No problem MHALL. But since you feel bad, feel free to send me your 5 best smallmouth spots for this time of year and we'll call it even! Although I'll be camping with my sons Boy Scout Troop all weekend so no fishing for me.

    turnover

Called the hotline today and Ranger Ashley's recording says fishing is slow due to lake turnover. Anyone been out to give more details? I wasn't able to fish this weekend but will be next weekend. Hoping to hear fishing is improving by then.

    Cumberland

Fished this weekend and Saturday was more difficult than Sunday. Smallies off main lake around bluffs and largemouth back of creeks mid lake in small cuts.
