I fish for stripers/hybrids quite a bit on the river. In my experience, the tighter the wobble of the bait the better. Don't get me wrong, I have caught fish on wider wobling baits, I personally prefer a tighter wobble. I believe from my past with fishing diamond jigs in the ocean ( S.California ) that they have a wider swimming action. I believe that covering water is a key element however. Good luck and tight lines !
I used to use lead slab spoons and flutter jigs below markland dam. Hybrids hit those well as did catfish. I liked them at times due to the distance I could cast them. I would give them a shot.
