According to this year's Medscape survey, the average compensation for specialists is $284,000 and for a primary care physician is $195,000. When asked about their compensation for patient care, the top three earners this year are orthopedists ($421,000), cardiologists ($376,000), and gastroenterologists ($370,000), and the lowest earners, starting from last place, are pediatricians ($189,000), family physicians ($195,000), and endocrinologists and internists (both at $196,000).

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics in 2010 farmers and ranchers earned a median annual income of nearly $61,000. The top 10 percent of earners in the field (couldn't resist that one, LOL) made about $107,000 a year, while the bottom 10 percent made less than $30,000. However a farmers’ income will fluctuate annually depending on the prices of crops and livestock, weather conditions, oil prices and currency-exchange rates.

Don't say that to your doctor's face though

At certain times the Dr is GOD. The rest of the time the Farmers are GOD. GOD gave us life and Farmers give us our food. Only when we really get sick do the Doctors come into play.

IMHO the Medical community knows they have us by the balls and they charge us accordingly. And the insurance companies are pulling on all four limbs in different directions.

Medical Costs are way out of hand.

    Point taken.......

BUT honestly, who cares what a doctor makes? They go to school for 8 years, then do internships for years, and then have crazy expenses trying to start their own business.

AND that nice pretty salary you talk about does not take into account medical malpractice or the debt the incurred learning to SAVE PEOPLE.

A farmer grows food, and animals....I can do that.....

A cardiac surgeon, might perform heart surgery on me to SAVE my ass.......I can't do that.

You tell me which one provides more value to ME.

    But hey, I digress.
