George: Now you are changing things around. My concern was about using Nukes and the possibility of getting into a shooting war with some other countries that also have nukes. Back during WWII we didn't have that worry. So who's slow? If you didn't get that point then I'm not sure what can be said to get that point though to you.
I'm not against trying to destroy ISIS but how do we destroy a thought that spreads through out the middle east the more we attack it? The more we do to bomb isis the more they are able to recruit new people to fight us. We act aggressively and it promotes people to join ISIS not the other way around.
Now we can bomb the trucks that they are using to haul the oil that give them money to support their war. That is the smartest thing we can do right now. They are not all in one city and we can't bomb an entire city as there are other civilian there and that's not going to happen. This is not WWII where German Submarines are at our doorstep and torpedoing American Merchant Ships within sight of Jersey City. ISIS didn't bomb Pearl Harbor. WWII was totally different and fought on a much larger scale. Every able bodied man joined the war effort during WWII in the 1940. Things were much different then. No Nuclear Tipped Missiles with multi warheads that could target different targets with just one missile. We didn't have the Russian with thousands of nuclear missiles that could reach our cities in 30 minutes and destroy most all of us. WWII was fought with pistol powered airplanes and none of them could easily cross the Atlantic or Pacific Ocean and get to use easily. It was a totally different Era. We didn't have the internet then nor the super highways that we have today. We didn't have massive air craft carries that were loaded with Modern day Jet Fighters.
We bombed German Towns because the German Airforce was bombing London England and other places in England such as the air fields and the radar stations. German U boats were sinking our ships and those of our allies. They invaded Russian and went almost to Moscow but were stopped. And at that time we were allied with the Russians if you remember your history correctly. Things were different in the pacific too. Japan was running wild thoughout the South Pacific and were poised to invade Australia until the battle of the Coral Sea ended their progression. Japan had a modern day by 1940 standards Navy and was using it to wrech havoc thought the Pacific Ocean. German U boats made it to our shores in 1942 and some of the German Battle Ships were running wild thoughout the oceans destroying merchant vessels with ease until they were hunted down.
ISIS doesn't even have a NAVY nor do they have an Air Force. They don't really have an Army per se. All they have is a bunch of doped up ill trained militants who are gaining small territories because the Iraqi Army was so wear and just turned away and ran. We took out Saddam and left a vacuum in the middle east that the Sunni Muslims have taken advantage of. But they have not taken over the Pacific or the Atlantic Oceans nor are they really threatening America or France for that matter. Yea they blew up a few places with some home made bombs but we have had our own people do worst that that to the USA. Remember Timothy McVey?
ISIS is an annoyance and we are spending way to much money on trying to destroy these idiots and religious zelots.
This is a job for the Special Forces and a few quick bomb runs to destroy what little infra structure Isis has to make money for themselves. This is not WWIII by any means.... YET.
However my main point was not the fight with ISIS as that's not really that big of a deal. But my point was that if we are not careful and get into a shooting war with Russia over President Assad in Syria then that could lead to much bigger problems.
Yesterday with the downing of the Russian Su24 jet and the loss of two of Russia's pilots by Turkish F15's a bigger war might break out if we are not all careful.
So trying to compare our fight with ISIS and WWII is just plain juvenile.
BTW: Most all Germans living in German were forced into supporting the NAZIS. They may not have liked it but the didn't dare try to go against the SS or they would have been shot. Same with the Japanese. If we would have invaded Japan every Japanese man woman and child would have been fighting us. And I think that we saved a lot of American Soldier's Lives by using the Atomic Bomb on those two Japanese Cities. Millions more American's would have died trying to end the War with Japan in the Pacific if not for the use of the two atomic Bombs. But those days are over now that we are not the only Country with Atomic Bombs. We have other countries that can now do the very same thing to us that we did to Japan. And I sure hope that no one ever resorts to using Nuclear Weapons again.
