Dale today with a cool surprise

Didnt have any live bait but caught 23 on a jig today. Had 4 smallies, 2 kys, and 17 largemouth. No monsters but our best 5 lm would have gone 17-18lbs. About an hour before dark we were fishing back in fanny creek and saw a bobcat come down to the edge of the water. We watched it for a second and i finally fired the big motor and ran down to where he was. I got a bad cell phone picture from the water and ran my boat up onto the bank and got out to try to get a better picture but hed wondered back into the woods by then. Surprisingly he wasnt bothered bynus or the motor running and slowly went on about his business

Thanks for the report. Sounds like DH is treating you right, but suprised at the low number of smallies boated, compared to the greenfish? Water temperature there is about 4-6 degrees lower than Cumberland (West end) was on this past Friday.

Ive caught nearly all smallies my last few trips so i decided to go target largemouth to see if i could catch em good. I ran up Wolf a pretty good ways and actually caught largemouth in a few places i would have expected smallies

Sounds like the perfect fishing trip. Good day catching fish and a seeing some wildlife in their environment.

I always say there is something special about being on the water. A relaxing calm feeling for me and gets me out of the hectic day to day grind. you never know what you will see. It may be a cool sunset or sunrise or an eagle, deer, wild turkeys, familiy of racoons, etc.

We had a bob cat this summer for about 2 months it slept in the pen with the beagles unfortunately it chewed a live wire.
Back to fishing congrats, I nearly struck out both Sat an Sunday

But winter time I try a lot of different areas when the hot areas slow
I enjoy finding or trying to find new areas

Saw stained water around state dock cove fished Ashburn much clearer, Perhaps the run off from Sunset is coming,
Did boat 4 nice SM nothing close to measure but strong an healthy, drifted a ditch
