Got on the lake for a while yesterday. First fish I caught was a 12 1/2 inch crappie. Then several small gills, next was a channel cat that was around 4 pounds.
A few casts later I had a hit a said another cat. Got it up beside the boat and it was a huge crappie. As my friend was reaching to net it the line separated and we got to watch it swim away.
Knowing I had new line on that reel I started checking the guides. When I got to the tiptop I found a crack so I put a piece of line through it and pulled it around the guide. It cut it like a knife.
Fortunately I had a replacement tiptop at home but sure would have liked to had a photo of that one.

I bet it was windy up at Patoka on Saturday. How did you manage to fish in those high winds. With all the swirling winds up there it's hard to find a quiet spot out of the wind in some areas.Got on the lake for a while yesterday. First fish I caught was a 12 1/2 inch crappie. It was rough. By the time we left the lake I was exhausted.
