Has anyone seen or had any good reports of catching trout in this area lately? I was thinking of fly fishing this area on Friday.
We were down two weeks ago and caught some nice fish at Trace's, Crocus and Marrowbone as well as other areas in-between. We fly fish mostly and were using pheasant tails, caddis emergers, zebra midge and white woolly buggers.
Lost a huge fish at Trace's on a 4 inch shad fly tied clouser style. We will be down again the 17th.
David,
I don't know what your accommodation plans are but,
We just bought a house on the river near the Marrowbone intake and have been thinking about renting it to fly fishermen/fishermen. It sleeps four now will sleep six soon. 2 bedrooms 2 baths, Galley kitchen and best of all
it has its own boat ramp! Sit on the deck...sip an Adult Beverage and watch the river go by. Oh I moved my fly
tying desk down three weeks ago so you could tie up whatever you wanted to!
This weekend is a little early in the process but keep it in mind for down the road.

The Marrowbone Intake is about 3/4 of a mile upstream from Marrowbone Creek confluence with the Cumberland. I believe it isn't used anymore but was used as the water source for Cumberland Cnty or at least Marrowbone. Its a huge cement tower!
Stop by next weekend and tie some up! BTW a lot of the fly names are made up! Some are descriptive some are just made up! Zonker, Beadhead flashback pheasant tail (BHFBPT), Prince Nymph ( not the Purple Rain Prince), Royal Wulff, Copper John, Clouser Minnow created by Bob Clouser who still fishes the SoHo from time to time.
Good Luck hunting!

I know the structure you speak of....never heard it called the marrowbone intake in 42 yrs.....but I like it....it fits![]()

Thanks for the reply. I ended up just going to Winfreys. We caught nearly 40 on Friday most of them on streamers. I caught a few nymphing. I'm off in a couple weeks so I'll defiantly try the Burnsville area then.
I haven't had much luck with the clouser style. I usually fish wolly buggers. What type of rod did you fish a 4 inch clouser with?We were down two weeks ago and caught some nice fish at Trace's, Crocus and Marrowbone as well as other areas in-between.
