Remember that cold water holds more dissolved oxygen than warm water and that fish are cold blooded.
Now I know that some types of fish can't handle extreme cold waters or ice over the lake. Thread fin Shad are one such speices. But when did a simple cold front kill tens of thousands of fish.
IMHO there is something else to blame on this fish kill. And it being down in Lousiana where all the chemcial plants and refineries are located my bet it some type of toxic chemcal got into the river.
